Donley Second in First Start at Motor Mile Speedway in ‘06
With South Boston Speedway off this past Saturday, Jerame Donley and his family’s Donley Motorsports team headed to Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Virginia for the first time in ‘06. With a new racing surface at Motor Mile Speedway, the team elected to test on Friday afternoon to prepare for the 100-lap event on Saturday night.
After being rained out on Saturday night, the Donley Motorsports team returned Sunday afternoon to try and take home the second trophy of the 2006 race season. Jerame was pleased with the #5 LJM Machine Co., Inc. Grand Prix prior to qualifying and proved it, putting his hot rod on the outside pole with a lap of 15.638 seconds, just one-thousands of a second slower than pole sitter Jason Lawrence.
With plenty of grip from the new racing surface, Jerame kept the Donley Motorsports machine in second place all night while trying to take over the top spot on several restarts throughout the event. With just four laps remaining the caution flew and on the ensuing restart Jerame dove to the inside of leader Jason Lawrence, but Lawrence shut the door on Jerame heading into turn one. Jerame crossed the finish line with a strong second place finish.
Jerame Donley and Donley Motorsports will return to action this Saturday night at South Boston Speedway for the Strutmaster.com 150. Keep up-to-date all season long at JerameDonley.com.
