New Track Record For Jerame In First UARA-STARS Attempt
Jerame Donley started his day off on the right foot this past Saturday at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Virginia for the UARA-STARS Pepsi 150. His LJM Machine Co., Inc. #5 unloaded strong right off the team’s hauler.
In his first qualifying attempt with the UARA-STARS Late Model Tour Jerame laid down a very strong lap, breaking the previous track record with a lap of 15.613 seconds. The race got underway with Jerame settling into the second place position right behind UARA-STARS regular, Jamie Yelton. With little experience on the Goodyear race tire Jerame decided to pace himself until he was ready to make a move late in the race.
After a caution on lap 108 Jerame’s car started to develop a very tight condition. Jerame thought he had a slow leak on the right front tire and fell back to the 7th position. Jerame continued on with the tight condition and on lap 146 he tangled with the #46 machine coming off of turn two. Jerame fell back to 10th position after the incident but a green, white, checkered finish gave Jerame a chance to make up two positions, bring the Donley Motorsports Grand Prix home in the 8th position.
Post race inspection of the car revealed that a ratchet in the rear-end actually locked-up during the race, causing the extremely tight condition. “We felt like we had a solid top 5 car, but with the rear-end problem, we were glad to bring home a top 10 finish in our first UARA outing," commented Jerame after the race.
Jerame Donley and his family’s Donley Motorsports team will take this weekend off with both South Boston Speedway and Motor Mile Speedway being idle. The team will be back in action May 13th at Motor Mile Speedway.
