Two Top-10’s in Twin 50’s for Donley

Coming off a second place finish at Caraway Speedway in Sophia, North Carolina last weekend, Jerame Donley and the Donley Motorsports team were looking to carry their momentum into Saturday night’s Mark III Customs Twin 50’s at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Virginia.

Practice sessions went well on Friday and Saturday for the #5 LJM Machine Co., Inc. Grand Prix and Jerame backed it up, qualifying 3rd for the first race and 5th for the second race. Race number one got started with Jerame settling into the third spot and as the race wound down leader Phillip Morris cut down a tire, giving Jerame and the team a 2nd place finish in race one.

The team made several adjustments to the car prior to the second race. Jerame quickly could tell the car was very good and moved into the third position. On lap 35 Jerame made a move to the inside under Garrett Gray for the second position. Unfortunetly, Gray couldn’t hear his spotter and he came down on Jerame, sending the two cars spinning. Jerame recovered but would have to restart in the 12th position. With just ten laps remaining Jerame was able to work his way back to the 6th position.

Though disappointed with the outcome he was still very optimistic about the weeks to come. “We definitely made the right adjustments and the car was dialed in for the second race. We could have had a shot at Phillip Morris (who ultimately won the 2nd race), but luck just didn't go our way. We know we have a better handle on the car set-up, so hopefully we can come back next week and pick up a win," commented Jerame after the race.

Jerame Donley and the entire Donley Motorsports team will be back in action this Saturday night at Motor Mile Speedway for the US Army/Southern Printing 100! If you’re in the Radford area, make sure you stop by for some great short-track racing on Saturday night!
