Three Tough Outing’s for Jerame Donley and Donley Motorsports
Thing’s had been going very well for Jerame Donley and his family’s Donley Motorsports #5 LJM Machine Co., Inc. Grand Prix, posting three top-five’s in their last three starts, including back to back second place finishes. Unfortunately, it seemed to all crumble this past week after making three starts in just six days.
On Monday, July 3rd, the team rolled into South Boston Speedway, but right off the trailer they struggled throughout practice. Despite the tough time in practice, Jerame still qualified 12th and while biding time in the 8th position he cut a right front tire and lost four laps in the pits, relegating the team to a 20th place finish in the 200-lap event.
Three days later Donley Motorsports made the trip to Caraway Speedway for the “Firecracker 200,” and thing’s seemed to be going well. With a good handling car throughout practice Jerame laid down the fourth fastest time in qualifying. Starting fourth, Jerame played patient, biding his time once again through the early parts of the 250-lap event. Then it happened, another huge dose of bad luck. This time a center weight box mount broke under the #5 LJM Machine Co., Inc. Grand Prix. Deciding not to put any more abuse on the car the team parked the car and swallowed another disappointing finish - 16th.
After bad luck in their last two outings, Donley Motorsports was looking to rebound at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Virginia on July 8th. The car was strong throughout practice and Jerame qualified the #5 LJM Machine Co., Inc. machine in the 5th position. At the start of the race Jerame quickly moved into the 3rd position, but again, on lap-33 bad luck struck again, as Jerame pitted the #5 machine after he felt a slow leak developing in one of the tires. The crew discovered a flat left rear tire and Jerame returned to the race. Jerame ran the rest of the race 3rd in line but was down one lap to the leaders and ended up 17th on the final run down. Six days, three races, and no luck at all.
Jerame Donley and the Donley Motorsports team will take this week off to regroup as they look to turn their luck around. Motor Mile Speedway is off due to the Hooters Pro Cup race but the team will return on July 22nd for the Twin 50’s. Keep your eye on JereameDonley.com for the latest news and information.
