Jerame Donley Climbs His Way Back to Victory Lane
Jerame Donley and his family’s Donley Motorsports #5 LJM Machine Co., Inc. Grand Prix have struggled over the past few weeks, but Saturday night Jerame and his team proved they aren’t the ‘give up’ type. Jerame scored his second win of the season and his first at Motor Mile Speedway in 2006 after starting second in the Price's Body Shop 100.
Although disappointed after just missing out on the pole by .02 seconds over Jason Merriman, Jerame knew he had a great car heading into the 100-lap event. Jerame battled Merriman for the top spot, but Jerame settled back into second to conserve his tires. On lap 59 Jerame made a move that put him at the point and despite being challenged for the lead several times by Jason Mitcham, he sailed into victory lane!
"The car ran good the whole race. We had hoped to have more W's in the results column for the year, but thankfully we finished off the year at Motor Mile with the win and finished 3rd in points,” commented the 20 year old driver from Winston Salem, North Carolina after the race. And with out missing a beat his focus switched to running well in his next race, the Bailey’s 300, “Hopefully we can carry the momentum to Martinsville next weekend and have a great run.”
Jerame Donley has momentum on his side and a good day of testing under his belt as he and his family’s Donley Motorsports team ride into Martinsville Speedway this weekend. Jerame has qualified for the Bailey’s 300 in each of his two attempts. In his first attempt he finished 13th and in 2005, he qualified 16th, but developed an ill-handling car and finished 27th. Watch out for Jerame to be a threat in this years Bailey’s 300 at Martinsville Speedway. Tickets are available for the “Super Bowl” of NASCAR Late Model Stock Car racing slated for Sunday, October 1st.
