Donley Strong in Myrtle Beach 400 and Thanksgiving Classic
Donley Motorsports and Jerame Donley rolled through the pit gates of Myrtle Beach Speedway looking for a solid run in the Myrtle Beach 400 late last month. With 63 cars attempting to make the 200-lap feature event and only the top-20 making the race on time, the entire team put and emphasis on qualifying for the race on time. Jerame did just that, posting the 16th fastest time, securing a spot in the annual Myrtle Beach Speedway event.
Jerame ran well from the start of the race and at the halfway break the team bolted on four new tires for the final half of the race. With the new tires, Jerame was able to work his way up into the top-10, finishing 9th.
After a solid run in Myrtle Beach, the team decided to head to Kenly, North Carolina for the Thanksgiving Classic at Southern National Speedway. The car ran real well for Jerame during practice, but an early qualifying attempt relegated him to the 33rd fastest time, putting him 5th in one of the 25-lap heat race. Jerame ran strong in the heat and finished 4th, putting him 30th on the starting grid for the feature event.
From the drop of the green Jerame started moving through the field. While running in the top-20 he was spun, putting him one-lap down and sending him to the rear of the field. Jerame continued working hard and put himself into position to pick-up the Lucky Dog award before the halfway break (putting himself back on the lead lap). Jerame battled back after the halfway break but ran out of tires, settling for an 11th place finish in the 2006 Thanksgiving Classic.
