Disappointing Start for Donley; ’07 Starts with Engine Failure
Jerame Donley and his family’s #5 Donley Motorsports Chevrolet were ready to roll for opening night at Motor Mile Speedway on Saturday, April 14th, but Mother Nature rained on their parade. Despite the weather delay, Jerame and the team kicked off the 2007 season seven days later with 29 other NASCAR Whelen All-American Late Model Stock Car teams.
Fast through practice, Jerame thought his machine would be a strong piece on long runs in the 150-lap feature event. Jerame qualified 8th out of 30 cars and was confident he could be patient and work his way to the front while conserving his car for the final segment of the race. From the green flag Jerame quickly moved into the top-five before settling in and finding a comfort zone for the #5 where he started to conserve his car and tires before his final push toward the lead late in the event. Unfortunately, on lap 23 the Donley Motorsports Monte Carlo would suffer its first engine failure since joining forces with Banks Racing Engines. “We were looking to start the season off strong, but a parts failure ended our day and started us off with a disappointing 29th place finish,” commented Jerame after the race.
Jerame Donley and Donley Motorsports will look to bounce back on April 21st with the running of Twin-75’s at Motor Mile Speedway. Donley Motorsports is currently looking for marketing partners for the 2007 season and beyond. Make sure to check out
