Donley; “The Good and the Bad”

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Jerame Donley’s season couldn’t have started much better than it did. After spending the first half of the season finishing up his college degree at UNC-Charlotte, Jerame stepped back on the track, and in fine fashion, scoring a victory and a second place finish in his first two starts.
Saturday night Jerame and the team made their third start of the season and had hopes of putting a second mark in the win column. But, with the good came the bad, and this past Saturday night proved it. After a decent practice session and a fifth place qualifying effort Jerame was ready for another shot at his first win of 2008 at Motor Mile Speedway.
Unfortunately, it didn’t last long. From the start Jerame trailed behind Forrest Reynolds until he had transmission problems, forcing Jerame to make a quick move to avoid hitting him. The move put him into the fourth spot and he was able to reel in the third place machine of Phillip Morris. Jerame patiently pursued Morris, working him to the inside, but was unable to make the pass.
Jerame settled into fourth and decided to let the car come to him as the race moved past the 50 lap mark. As he was settling in the night took a turn for the worse, and on lap 60, Jerame reported a “miss” in the engine. He thought the engine was going to blow so he brought the car to the pits before causing major damage to the drive train. Luckily the engine was fine, but a faulty distributor cap relegated Jerame and the Donley Motorsports team to an uncharacteristic 20th place finish.
Despite the turn of bad luck Donley was still optimistic about the next race, "we had a good car this week, [but] not quite as good as last week. The recent rain had washed the track clean, which changed the racing surface a lot from last week. We were a little loose, but were hoping that the track would come to us as the race progressed. Unfortunately, the problem with the distributor developed, which cut our night short and kept us from having another solid top 3 finish. I was really looking forward to a rematch with Phillip after last week. We'll come back in 2 weeks and set our aim on a Motor Mile win."
Jerame’s brother, Cory Donley, also made a return Saturday night to the Limited Sportsman division and had a good run going until the third place car pulled some unnecessary rough moves late in the race that shuffled Cory all the way back to the 5th position.
Jerame and the Donley Motorsports team will be back in action on August 30th at Motor Mile Speedway. Check back with JerameDonley.com for the latest news and information regarding Jerame and Donley Motorsports.
